Lilija Nicis is a part of a long legacy of American couturiers that flourished during the 1940s and 1950s. Paris's maisons were out of commission due to World War II, American aristocrats began to support local artisans which in turn propelled America's garment manufacturing industries.
This coat is an excellent example of post-war couture craftsmanship. The textile is a supple silk with a raised floral print in silk velvet. Coat also features bound button-holes, a silk lining and original label.
